Is love something that hurts us? When we love someone, is it hard to let go, even if it causes us pain? Banksy explores these questions in the print "Love Hurts." We see a balloon, stuck in barbed wire. The bandage patch on the balloon indicates that it has been hurt before. The meaning is straightforward, love can hurt. Love can trap us. Love can leave us with scars. But the balloon hasn't popped yet, it is still there. Maybe love is also the thing that heals us and sets us free.
