About this artwork

Banksy named this print HMV after a British entertainment retailing company of the same name. Created in 2003, it shows a gramophone next to a dog. The dog is holding a bazooka and points it at the old music player. It could be a symbol of how we condemn certain old fashioned ways of thinking. It could also show how we tend to throw out the old and don't find traditions important anymore. Another possible meaning is that the digitalisation is making it hard for music retailers to sell their products.
